Paloma Collective Workshop | Dayton, OH | Something Old Dayton

If I could pass off one piece of knowledge to you that I’ve gained over the past six years on this journey to become a photographer, it would be to invest in yourself and in your craft young grasshopper. One way to invest in improving your craft and education is by attending styled shoots.

Styled shoots are a great way to work with, and build up, vendors in your community, or in a location you’re dying to work in more, practice with that new camera or lens you just bought, try out different lighting techniques, camera settings, or new posing techniques so you can be confident working with your clients during sessions and on wedding days. Depending on who is hosting or what type of styled shoot you sign up for, some hosts throw in tips to help you along in your business.

No matter what type of styled shoot you decide to invest your time and money in, always do your research to ensure it’s what’s best for you and your business in this season of life.
