Formula Drift 2021 | St. Louis, MO | World Wide Technology Raceway
I’m one of those people who HATES having to read a person’s life story on the blog before getting to all the good parts (pictures and let’s be real - the recipes), so I’ll try to make this introduction a quick one!
The first time we spectated a live Formula Drift event, it was for my husband and I’s sixth anniversary as a couple. This year, not only did I invest in the photography experience to expand my knowledge of drift photography, but I also surprised my sister with a VIP experience as part of her sixteenth birthday present. She was beyond thrilled to say the least.
Highlights from the weekend:
From local leagues to the pros, I’m just blown away by the hospitality and good vibes of the drifting community (media, drivers, and staff alike). As an example, after the media meeting Friday morning, I was offered a ride from the hot pits to the main gate - I didn’t realize until halfway through the ride that the person driving was PRO2 Driver Amanda Sorensen. I kept my cool and thanked her for the ride, but I had a shit-ass grin on my face and fangirled so hard back to the grandstands.
As we were heading to the autograph experience, I noticed a woman with two boys that looked very familiar. Turns out I had photographed that same mother two years prior in almost the exact same spot - which I thought was super cool.
During the autograph experience, Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Ryan Tuerck took my husband’s photo with their phone because he was wearing his old Drift Alliance shirt.
During practice laps, I met a photographer from France named Baps - we talked a little bit about the team they worked for and how much they enjoyed coming back to the States for their work.
Last, but not least I was able to meet, learn from, and grab a selfie with the king of car culture photography: Larry Chen.
With all of that being said, here are all the shots from the weekend - enjoy my friends!
